Give me my ink!

I've been thinking about getting a tattoo lately. I want a permanent mark on my body to echo the permanent mark on my psyche left by the babies I won't ever hold. I'm now about six weeks from the EDD of the baby I lost in May, and it's really been hitting me hard that I might have had a Christmas baby; I don't expect to have a very happy holiday.

Anyway, The Unnecesarean ran a post yesterday about anesthesiologists being hesitant to place epidurals in women with lower back tattoos (the placement I've been envisioning for mine). Given that I don't ever want an epidural, bring on the ink!

I think a tatoo to comemorate what you've been through is a really neat idea. :-)

Bring on the ink!! I am itching for a new one right now to symbolize a new stage in my life. A tattoo is a great way to honor and heal.

i think that is a great idea. huge hugs.
did i ever direct you to the blog fuoriborgo? francesa has lost 4 babies, i believe 3 of which were stillborn. she posted a couple months back about a program to help with this kind of loss and there is a link from her blog to it.
i will have to read that. i want a tattoo also and i have been thinking of the same location (and a couple others. apparently even the thought is addictive.(

My sister has a big lower back tattoo. She had a huge hip surgery done (cutting her pelvis in 3 places) and they put in an epidural for the post-op pain no problem. I think she had it in for 2 days. So... I don't think there's a reason not to go ahead.
